FEBRUARY 5, ‘25 // TOPIC #105 – UNIFORM PLEATS About uniforms, how to keep it nice and pleated. I wanted to give you my tip that I wash the uniform without Downy. I dry it for 3 minutes and then I leave it either on a table, like a dining room table, and put a towel underneath not to ruin the wood, or another table or flat bed. I make the pleats nice and flat. Then, put two textbooks on top or any heavy books that you have, and let it dry fully for a day. It looks pressed afterwards without ironing. Thank you for the gorgeous column, I always enjoy seeing everybody’s tips and ideas. TOPIC #123 - HAMPER HACKS We just started a new system and it’s working beautifully. We have three sectional hampers in our laundry room and then in each bedroom we have one wide shallow hamper. And this way, whoever needs to throw in the laundry just throws it into these wide shallow hampers. If the children or cleaning ladies do separate laundry, I find they usually do it wrong anyways. So, instead they just throw it in and then we take it from there. I take it from there at night and I divide it between the sectional hampers. Then, when they need the laundry, it’s already divided. I wanted to add to that, that when I was a girl in school, a girl had vinegar on her hair for almost a year, probably to get rid of lice. And the girls really didn’t want to stand next to her. And I think vinegar is not such a good idea. There’s another solution that works maybe even better than vinegar: Alcohol. Alcohol also has a strong smell, but the smell goes away right away, it doesn’t stay on the hair and it kills the nits and the lice. In my experience, you don’t even have to comb it. Just spraying alcohol a few times a day kills whatever is left. After doing a regular cleaning through the hair once and then spraying alcohol a few times a day the rest should get killed and prevent more from coming back. TOPIC #88 – HAIR BRUSHES AND COMBS I want to know, regarding the topic of hair, if anyone knows or had an experience where the peyos become one big piece. It’s literally impossible to brush through. Is it a virus, a deficiency in vitamins, or any kind of shampoo that’s needed? If anyone knows anything about it, I would really appreciate it. TOPIC #38 – TOOTH TROUBLE I would like to inquire about the situation where Fidelis covers everything except for our essential teeth. The dentist I found who is part of Fidelis is now charging $50 for the procedures that Fidelis does not cover. I am curious about how others handle this, what solutions exist, and if we could unite to ask the government for increased funding for dental care and root canals. TOPIC #122 - SEIZURES I’m interested in information about Dr. Christopher. If he has a book or a phone number or something, I’ll be very thankful. 140
